Research Policies and Fee Schedule 

 

My fees will vary depending on the services which you request.

 

Research Services

 

I will conduct research at local repositories under the following conditions:

 

1. A specific research goal must be defined.  This will be discussed prior to the start of the project.

 

2. All previous research bearing on the research goal must be provided prior to the start of the project.  If failure to provide relevant information results in duplication of previous research, charges for this research will still apply.

 

3. There is a ten (10) hour minimum for all research projects.  This allows for (a) review of previous research, (b) construction of a research plan, (c) evidence collection, (d) analysis of collected evidence, and (e) accurate and precise research reporting.  Fewer than five hours of research time is highly unlikely to yield effective results.  Ten or more hours of research is recommended for most research goals.

 

4. A deposit of 20% of the total commissioned project fees will be required to be placed on my current waiting list.  This deposit will be entirely applied toward the research fees.

 

5. Any unused funds will be returned to the client.

 

6.  Copy costs will be charged at cost, in addition to my hourly research rate noted below.

 

7.  Travel costs will not be charged in most cases.  Any travel outside of regular repositories may be charged, only after discussion with, and approval by, the client.

 

8.  Any outstanding balance will be due at the conclusion of the research project.  The final research report will be delivered only after the balance has been paid.

 

My hourly research rate is $50 per hour.  This includes construction of a research plan, evidence collection and analysis, and accurate and precise research reporting.

 

The research report, including copies of all evidence, will be provided digitally in PDF format, via online delivery.  All evidence will be included as high-resolution (300dpi) scans.  If paper copies are desired in addition to the digital copies, additional charges will apply.

Document Retrieval/Transcription Services

 

I will obtain copies of specific records under the following conditions:

 

1.  A specific citation or reference must be provided.

2.  If your citation comes from a published work, please provide the author and title of the book.

3.  For vital records, citation includes name, date, and county of death.

4.  Documents over twenty (20) pages do not qualify for this pricing.  Any documents over twenty (20) pages will be subject to my regular hourly research rate, at a minimum of one (1) hour.

5.  Document transcription will be charged at the same rate noted below, if document is provided.

6.  Copy costs will be charged at cost, in addition to the retrieval fees noted below.

 

If citation is provided, document retrieval will be provided at a cost of $5 per record.  If a full citation cannot be provided, I will look up records in published indexes at my regular hourly research rate, with a minimum of one (1) hour.

 

All documents will be provided digitally as high resolution (300dpi) scans, in PDF format, via online delivery.  If paper copies are desired in addition to the digital copies, slight additional charges will apply.
